Your new place has an existing security system
Many times after you close on a new house, you’ll notice that the previous owners left a home security system. All the devices function well, are installed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability problems, and they may offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary trip, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up fee to make the transfer simpler. If the previous owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, turning over the home security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your existing devices with you
You may need to bring your favorite smart devices with you to a new place when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as most smart devices are wireless. You can take down each component by yourself or contact a Vivint expert to come and take down everything. Then a pro will hang the same components -- and any new items you want -- in your new home. And your home security contract will remain the same.
